EuroGamer: "There is no point in trying to explain these contradictions, because the people who created this game didn't care enough for there to be answers (or, at best, weren't given enough time or money to care). I expected better from Terminal Reality. Ghostbusters wasn't quite the real deal, but it suggested a studio that could go on to much better things - and then Kinect Star Wars, and now this. If you don't want The Walking Dead tarnished forever, then avoid Survival Instinct: it is simple hackwork, fan exploitation at its most crude."

GamingLives takes on The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct to see whether this is one of those rare TV tie-ins that is actually half-decent.
"Survival Instinct is a prequel to the TV series, following Darryl Dixons journey through Georgia to find his brother and get out of there, or at least, I think thats their objective. The story takes a real backseat in this title, which is surprising given it had two writers and eight members on the story team, and mostly just sees you travelling south because other people have told you to. There are no twists or turns, and barely any emotional moments that the series is well known for. The only emotional scene occurs within the first five minutes, and after that its entirely possible to ignore every other character and their story, none of whom are interesting anyway."

Remember not so long ago, when Batman: Arkham Asylum and its sequel, Batman: Arkham City, were released to critical acclaim? Remember when Telltale made a Walking Dead game that was nominated for multiple Game of the Year awards? Forget those times. Remember when licensed games were like Men In Black and Superman 64? Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.

AusGamers has reviewed The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct and writes: As a result, its simply not worth exploring, even if you own shrink-wrapped copies of every TV season plus a signed, framed first edition of the graphic novel. AMC should never have signed off on this.

Josh from Bag of Games writes "The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct undeniably fails to deviate itself (aside from a few poorly implemented good ideas) from countless other generic, undead-slaying titles and instead, demonstrates the sort of unpolished, bargain bin-worthy material seemingly commonplace for cash-grabbing licensed games."
